Southfork.....
"That was a lovely wedding, wasn't it, Sue Ellen?" Kimberly asks.
"Yes, it certainly was."
"Sue Ellen, I want to thank you, for those lovely pearls you let Jillian borrow to wear for the wedding."
"I made a lot of mistakes with my daughter," Kimberly says. "But I think the one I regret the most is not letting her and J.R. get to meet and know one another. Even after J.R. came to me and wanted to meet our daughter, I....."
"Wait a minute," Sue Ellen says. "What? J.R. came to you and wanted to meet Jill? Kimberly, when was this?"
"Not long after he moved back in here at Southfork," replies Kimberly. "When he got out of that nursing home."
"I don't understand. J.R. knew about his daughter all that time?"
"Well, yes. I should've told Jillian about her father."
A look of confusion comes across Sue Ellen's face.
Meanwhile.....the den
"Go to hell, John Ross," says an angry Marilee. She starts to turn and walk away from him, but John Ross grabs her by the arm.
"Now look, are you really willin' to take a chance on losin' your son for good?" He asks. "Cause you and I both know that's what'll happen if Brad finds out he's the bastard son of Cliff Barnes instead of the son of Seth Stone."
John Ross looks at her and smiles. "Why, yes ma'am. I certainly am. Look, I know that those Johnson County wells were first drilled by your daddy, Martin Hurst. And you can rest assured, Marilee, that in Ewing hands, they will be well taken care of. Now then......deal or no deal?"
"It seems I don't have a choice, do I?"
"Well, you do have a choice, Marilee. But you wouldn't like the outcome of that choice."
"First thing Monday morning," says Marilee.
"Good. My office at 9 a.m.?" John Ross asks.
"Come by my house instead. I'd rather NOT set foot inside Ewing Oil."
John Ross smiles. "Fine. 8:30 Monday mornin'."
Marilee starts to walk out of the room. She pauses in the doorway, then turns back to him. "Let me give you a word of warnin', John Ross. You may be sneaky and devious like your father was, but you don't have the experience. You may have won this battle, but you've just started a war you're NOT gonna win." Marilee gives John Ross an angry look, then turns and walks out.
John Ross smiles. "Oh, Marilee," he says quietly to himself once he's alone. "I'll ALWAYS win."
Southfork.....that night
"Boy am I exhausted," Bobby says, leaning back.
"So am I," agrees Ann. "But that sure was a beautiful double weddin'."
"Yes, it was," says Donna.
"Both brides were just gorgeous," adds Ray.
"Yes they were," Bobby says. "And, the whole thing went off pretty much without a hitch, although I was a little worried when I saw Marilee Stone and that son of hers show up."
"Why, have you had problems with them?" Donna asks.
Bobby sighs. "Well, Brad Stone apparently has a grudge against us Ewings because of J.R.'s role in his father's suicide so many years ago."
"Are you serious?" Ray asks.
"Yep. Marilee dropped by the office one day to.........'warn'........Sue Ellen and I not to retaliate if her son attacked Ewing Oil in business."
Donna shakes her head. "J.R. has been gone almost three years, yet his past sins continue to haunt this family."
"Well, I'm not worried about Stone," says Bobby. "His small company is no match for Ewing Oil."
"I can't stop thinkin' about Mavis," Donna says.
"Neither can I," says Ann. "That's so sad."
"Yes. Alzheimer's is a horrible disease, and unfortunately, it's only gonna get worse," says Donna. "Andrew had an uncle who had it, and he didn't even recognize his own wife and children. Eventually he wasn't even able to move. He would just sit there, balled up in a fetal position in a chair. I hate to think of something like that happening to Mavis."
"So do I," Bobby says. "She and Mama were such good friends for so many years."
At that moment, Sue Ellen and Christopher walk in. "Well, everyone's gone," Christopher says.
"Good," Ann says with a smile.
"Well, I suppose I'd better be heading home," Sue Ellen says, her tone indicating that she seemed upset about something.
"You and I'd better be headin' on home, too," Ray tells Donna.
Donna lets out a deep sigh. "You're right. It's getting late and we're all tired."
"Yes, it's been a long day," says Sue Ellen. "Well, I'll see you all later."
"Sue Ellen, hold on a minute," Bobby says, getting up from his seat. "I'll walk ya out."
"Good night, everyone," Sue Ellen says. She and Bobby walks out of the room.
A moment later they walk onto the patio. Bobby slides the glass door shut behind him, then proceeds to walk Sue Ellen to her car. "Sue Ellen, what's wrong?"
"What makes you think anything's wrong?"
"Because I know you so well, and I can always tell when somethin's botherin' ya. You seemed fine during the wedding."
Arriving at her car, Sue Ellen pauses, then turns to him. "Bobby, do you think we will EVER stop finding out J.R.'s little secrets?"
"What do you mean?" Bobby asks.
"I was talking to Kimberly Cryder after the ceremony. Apparently, J.R. had discovered that Kimberly had his daughter shortly after he got out of the rest home."
"What? He knew about Jill all that time?"
"Yes. And he never said a word. My question is......why?"
"Your guess is as good as mine, Sue Ellen," Bobby says. "I stopped tryin' to figure my brother out a LONG time ago. J.R. was a very complicated man, to say the least. And my guess is that there's probably a lot more about J.R. we DON'T know than we do know."
"You're right. I don't know why this shocks me. Although, I would like to know why J.R. kept the fact that he knew about Jill a secret from everyone, and why he never contacted his daughter himself. Unless of course Kimberly had something on him and forced him to stay away. Which wouldn't surprise me, either."
"Why don't you go home and get some sleep?" Bobby asks. "You'll drive yourself crazy tryin' to figure this out, especially tonight."
Sue Ellen nods and smiles. "Goodnight, Bobby."
"Night. I'll talk to ya tomorrow. Drive safe."
"I will." Bobby kisses her on the cheek, then Sue Ellen gets into her car and Bobby watches as she drives off. He too, is beginning to wonder why J.R. had kept his knowledge of Jill a secret.
Conrad Miami Hotel, Miami, Florida.....
"I don't want today to end," Jill says. "This was the most perfect day of my life."
"Who says it has to end?" Jay asks, kissing her again. "I love you, Jillian Smithfield."
Jill smiles. "Jillian Smithfield. God, I love the sound of that."
"So do I."
"Can you believe that tomorrow we're boarding a ship for a week long cruise?"
"Oh, so already you're complaining about how much being married to me is gonna cost you?"
Jay smiles. "Not complaining at all. I knew what I was getting into when I married a high maintenance girl."
"I am NOT high maintenance, Mr. Smithfield."
"Oh yes you ARE." Jay puts his arms around her.
"I wonder what Justin and Amanda are doing on their honeymoon right now," Jill says.
"Probably making mad, passionate love. Which is what I'd like to be doing with my bride."
Jill looks at him and smiles. "Well, why don't we stop talking and get busy?"
"No wonder I picked you out of all the other women I could've married. You and I think alike."
The smile disappears from Jill's face. "What OTHER woman?" She asks, a serious expression on her face.
"Well, let's see........there was Tabatha, and Morgan, and Brittany, and Ashley, and........."
"Mr. Smithfiekd," Jill says. "This is our wedding night, so if you wanna have sex with your new bride, I'd suggest you shut up."
Jay smiles. "Yes, ma'am," he says, kissing Jill again.
The Krebbs Ranch......the next morning
"Hey," she says. "Why are you smiling ear to ear this morning?"
"Do I have to have a reason to smile? Especially with how perfect my life is these days? And I was just thinkin' about that weddin' yesterday."
"It was lovely, wasn't it?" Donna asks.
"Yes, it was," Ray says as he stands to face her. "And it also reminded me of somethin'."
"Reminded you of what?"
"You know what next Saturday is, don't ya?" Ray asks.
"Next Saturday? Let me see...... February the 27th."
"That's right. February 27, 1981......thirty-five years ago next Saturday, you did me the great honor of becomin' my bride."
Donna smiles. "I cannot believe you actually remembered that."
"No way I'd forget. We went to the Braddock Courthouse with Bobby and Pam and said our 'I do's'. That was the happiest day of my life."
"Mine too. So how come you remember that now, but when we were married I always had to remind you when our anniversary was?" Donna asks.
"Oh, I guess I'm just older and wiser now. Donna, I was thinkin'. These last few months we been livin' here like this........well, I been real happy. Happier'n I been since.......since I can't remember when. I know that when you moved in here we said we were gonna take things slow and see if we could make it work again. And so far........its HAS worked."
"What I'm gettin' at, Donna, is........I wanna marry you again. Next Saturday."
"You want us to get married next Saturday?"
"Yeah, I do. Exactly 35 years after our first weddin'."
"Oh, Ray. All these years, I had forgotten how romantic you can be sometimes."
"So, what do ya say?" Ray asks. "Donna Dowling........will you marry me, again? On the 27th?"
Donna puts her arms around him. "I can't think of ANYTHING I would rather be doing next Saturday than becoming Mrs. Raymond Krebbs........again."
Ray smiles, then embraces her. After a moment he looks at her. "I love you, Donna."
"I love you, too, Ray. With all my heart."
"Well, hell!" Ray says excitedly. "We'd best get busy. We got us a weddin' to plan."
Southfork......later
"I'm sorry your new lady friend wasn't able to make it to the wedding," Bobby says.
"Yeah, me, too," Christopher says. "But, there was no way she could get here. But we are planning on seeing each other next weekend."
Bobby looks at his son and smiles. "That's good. You must be pretty serious about this Erin Ward."
"I really am, Dad."
"Son, I wanted to ask you somethin'. Is, uh.......is everything okay between you and your brother?"
The smile disappears from Christopher's face as he looks at his father. "Why do you ask?"
"Well, i just noticed that things seemed a little chilly between the two of you yesterday. And Lucas hasn't been spendin' much time at home lately."
"Of course not," Christopher says. "He's always with Heather."
"Does that bother you?" Bobby asks.
"No, why should it?"
"I dunno, son. You tell me."
"But it does?" Bobby asks.
"Do you still have feelings for Heather?"
"Dad, to be honest with you, I have no idea why it bothers me, seein' Heather with Lucas. There was a time I thought we had somethin' very special, and when she came back to Dallas, I thought maybe we could again."
"And then you found out about Heather's past relationship with Lucas, and about Michael," Bobby says.
Christopher sighs. "Yeah. And now, every time I see them together, I feel...........it hurts. Dad, this has been such a confusing time for me Charlie, Heather, Erin. I feel like my head's spinning so fast it's making me dizzy. It's pretty obvious to me that Heather and Lucas have feelings for each other. I guess that's only natural. They share a son together."
"Christopher, I'm sorry things turned out this way for you," Bobby says. "I admit, at first I had my reservations about you and Charlie gettin' into a relationship. You're my son and I love you. I've known Charlie almost her whole life, and I love her, too. My apprehension about your relationship with her was because I was afraid of one or both of you gettin' hurt."
"And what about this girl Erin?" Bobby asks. "From everything you've said about her, she sounds pretty special."
"She is. But, we're states apart. She's moving from Tennessee to California, and I'm here in Texas. Sure, Erin and I can see each other whenever we can. Weekends, whatever. But what kind of long term relationship can we have from this far apart?"
Christopher nods to his father, then the two return to their work.
Southfork......the next morning
"Mornin', y'all," John Ross says as he and his wife take their seats at the table.
"John Ross," Bobby says.
"Well, I'd better be going," says Lucas.
"You hardly ate anything," Lucy says.
"I'll grab a sausage biscuit later," Lucas says. "I really have to get going. I'm picking Michael up this morning and taking him to school."
"You really are just relishin' playin' daddy to your new little son, aren't you, cousin Lucas?" John Ross asks, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Even bringin' him and his mama to the weddin' the other day, despite how that might make your brother Christopher feel."
"John Ross, what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Lucas asks.
"Well, Christopher dated her first," replies John Ross. "Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot......YOU dated her first and that's how you got to be daddy. But then Christopher dated Heather while you were out of the picture for a long time, and I saw the other day how much it bothered the hell outta him seein' ya'll here together."
"Hey, now, I'm on your side on all this," John Ross says.
Lucas sighs as he stands to his feet. "Well, I really had better get going before Michael is late for school and before I say or do something to John Ross that I'll regret this early in the morning. I'll see you all this evening."
"Bye," Bobby says as his son walks out of the room.
"John Ross do you ALWAYS have to be such an ass?" Conner asks.
"Well, if you don't like it here, cousin Conner, nobody's holdin' a gun to your head and makin' you stay," says John Ross. "Why don't you just move in with Uncle Ray? He seems to have adopted you as a replacement son, anyhow, since Lucas has accepted Uncle Bobby as his father."
"John Ross, that's enough," says an angry Bobby.
Ann slams her fork down on the table and sighs. "It'd be so nice if we could have just ONE meal in this house without all this damned bickerin'," she says. Without another word, Ann gets up from the table and rushes out of the room and up the stairs.
"Honey, wait," Bobby stands from his seat and calls to her, but Ann ignores him and proceeds up the stairs.
"Bobby, I'm sorry," Conner says. "I didn't mean to upset her."
Ray and Donna walk in at that moment, and noticing the somber faces on everyone they can sense the tension in the room. "Mornin'," Ray says.
"Mornin', Ray. Donna," Bobby says. "Would you like some breakfast?"
"No thanks," Donna replies.
"We actually just came by to share some news with the family, but, looks like we came at a bad time," says Ray.
"Ray, what was the news you wanted to share?" Bobby asks.
Ray looks at his brother and smiles, then looks at Donna.
"I have a feeling it's good news," Krystina says.
"Oh, it is," says Donna.
"Well," Ray says. "This comin' Saturday, February the 27th, marks the 35th anniversary of the day Donna and I were married."
"I remember that day well," Bobby says. "Pam and I stood up for you two at the courthouse in Braddock."
"That's right," Ray says. "So, this Saturday, we're gonna celebrate that day by..........well, I asked Donna to marry me and she said yes, so we're gonna be married on Saturday."
"Oh, Ray, that's wonderful!" Says an excited Lucy, getting up from her seat. She walks over and hugs them both. "Donna, I'm so happy for you!"
"Ray, congratulations, that's wonderful news," Bobby says. He shakes Ray's hand and gives Donna a kiss on the cheek. "Donna, welcome BACK to the family."
"Congratulations, you two," Christopher says.
"So, where's the weddin' gonna be?" Bobby asks.
"At our house. We were thinkin' around 3 in the afternoon," replies Ray. "And, Bob, you were my best man 35 years ago, so, I was wonderin' if you'd do me the honor of bein' my best man this time around."
Bobby smiles. "Ray, I would definitely be honored."
"Have you guys told Margaret?" Lucy asks.
"Not yet," answers Donna. "Ray and I are heading down to Austin this morning to see her and tell her in person, together."
"Ray, Donna, I'm so happy for you," Krystina says, walking over to the couple.
"Thank you," Donna says, hugging her.
"John Ross, aren't you gonna congratulate Ray and Donna?" Lucy asks.
John Ross looks at the couple and smiles. "Uncle Ray, Donna. Congratulations. I really am happy for you both."
"We appreciate that, John Ross," says Ray. "Conner, we'll prob'ly be gone all day. So, you take care of things at the ranch for me today."
"I will, Ray."
"You know where the spare house key is, so just help yourself."
"Well, we'd better go," Donna says. "We will see you all later, and let you all know a definite time the wedding's going to be."
"Alright, Donna. Bye," Bobby says as they leave.
"Well, now how 'bout that," John Ross says. "All this romance and all these weddin's in the fam'ly lately."
"Well i think it's wonderful," says Lucy.
Bobby and Ann's bedroom......a few minutes later
"Honey," he says. "Are you alright?"
"I'm sorry, Bobby. For blowin' up like that."
"No, it's fine. I'm just worried about you." Bobby then sees the photograph in her hand. "Your brother Mark," he says.
"Yeah," Ann says. "I've been thinkin' about him a lot lately, especially since I went the see my mother, which was a huge mistake. I'd like to know where Mark is, and I'd even like to see him. It's been so long."
"Then why don't we make it happen?" Bobby asks.
"What?" Ann asks, surprised.
"Why don't we try to find your brother?"
"Bobby, do you really think we could?"
"Yes, we can. You said your Mama knew where he is?"
"She seemed to," Ann says. "But I'd never ask her. Not after the horrible things she said."
"Alright, then, we'll find Mark ourselves. I'll give Bum a call today. In the meantime, you take a look on the internet. Maybe there's somethin' there you can find."
"Bobby, thank you."
Bobby smiles at his wife, then kisses her.
Marilee Stone's house.....
"Good mornin, there, George," John Ross says, walking into the house.
"Good morning, Mr. Ewing."
"Is the lady of the house at home?"
"Yes. Mrs. Stone is expecting you. She's in the den at the end of the hall."
"Thank ya, George," John Ross says. Smiling, he walks down the hall and knocks on the door at the end.
"Come in," he hears Marilee say.
Without saying a word to him, she walks to her desk, opens the top drawer, and pulls out some papers, which she tosses onto the desk. "I had my attorney drop those off this morning," she says.
John Ross walks over, picks the papers up, and looks through them. "Good. Everything looks in order. You can expect a transfer of funds from Ewing Oil into your personal account this afternoon." Taking his pen from his pocket, John Ross signs three of the papers Marilee had given him. Then he holds the pen out to her.
"No, thank you, I'd prefer to use my own," she says, picking up her own ink pen from the desk. She signs the papers, then hands them to John Ross.
He smiles. "Thank ya, Marilee," he says. "Now, that wuttin' so painful, now was it?"
"Now get the hell out of my house."
"Marilee, what kinda way is that to talk to a new business associate? Especially one who's keepin' your biggest secret for you?"
"You got what you wanted, John Ross. So get out."
"Fine. Nice doin' business with ya. Maybe we can do some more business another time."
"No way in HELL," Marilee says.
"Well, at least you made the right decision sellin' these wells to me. Have a good day, now." John Ross flashes a devious smile at Marilee, then turns and starts to leave.
"John Ross?" She calls to him.
He stops in the doorway and turns back to her.
Marilee walks over to him. "If you EVER think about telling ANYONE that Cliff Barnes is my son's father, I promise, I will make you live to regret it."
"Empty threats, Marilee," John Ross says. "With nothin' to back it up. If I were you, I'd be a helluva lot more worried about Katherine Wentworth keepin' that secret of yours."
"Katherine?" Marilee asks.
"Yep. How do you think I found out about Brad carryin' Barnes blood in his veins?" John Ross smiles at Marilee again, then turns and walks out.
"Katherine!" Marilee angrily says with gritted teeth. "Damn that witch."
The Wentworth mansion......a short time later
"Where is she?" Marilee demands to know. "Where is Katherine?"
"I'm sorry, but Miss Wentworth is not here," the maid, Helen, replies.
"Then where is she?"
"At her office at Wentworth Industries."
"Wentworth Industries? That's in the Campbell Center, right?" Marilee asks.
"Yes, ma'am."
Without another word, Marilee brushes past Helen and hurries out of the house, leaving Helen perplexed.
Ewing Oil.....
"Sue Ellen, do you know why John Ross wanted to meet with us in here?" Bobby asks.
"No idea at all," she replies. "He just phoned and said he wanted to see the three of us in the conference room at 10 a.m."
Christopher looks at his watch. "It's 3 minutes past 10 now."
"This better be important," Bobby says. "I have a lot of work to do today."
"You don't suppose he's about to set up another foundation, do you?" Christopher asks.
At that moment, John Ross walks in. "Mornin', everyone," he says. "Glad you could all make it."
"Now that we're here, why don't you tell us what this is all about?" Christopher asks.
"John Ross, what is this?" Sue Ellen asks.
"Open it and take a look, and weep."
Bobby picks the folder up and opens it, taking out the papers John Ross and Marilee had signed earlier, for Ewing Oil to purchase Marilee's fields. Bobby looks it over, then hands them to Sue Ellen and Christopher.
"John Ross, I don't understand," Bobby says. "Those are fields that use to belong to Stone-Hurst Oil."
"That's right, Uncle Bobby. Marilee Stone had held onto those wells all these years, and geological reports say that those fields are still yielding a very high volume of crude."
"John Ross, you bought these fields from Marilee?" Sue Ellen asks.
"Yes, Mama, I did. We signed the papers less than an hour ago."
"I guess Marilee's just mellowed in her old age," John Ross says.
"That woman will NEVER mellow," says Sue Ellen.
"John Ross, I don't buy it," Christopher says. "What'd you do to get Marilee Stone to sell those wells to you?"
"I am just not believin' this," John Ross says. "I score one of the major business coups of the year and get my hands on some wells that'll make Ewing Oil a lotta money for years to come, and my cousin here questions my tactics."
"Now wait a minute," Bobby says. "John Ross, I don't know, and I'm not sure I wanna know what you did to get these wells, but I'm very glad you did. Just as long as this doesn't come back to bite us later on."
John Ross smiles. "Don't you worry, Uncle Bobby. Marilee gladly parted with those wells and she realized it was good for to let go of the past."
Sue Ellen looks at her son with suspicion. Something in his tone of voice made her believe that John Ross had strong armed those wells away from Marilee.
Wentworth Industries....
"Yes, ma'am, but, she's busy....."
"That's alright," Marilee says, walking over to the office door. "She can just get UN-busy."
"Ma'am, you can't go in there," the secretary says, getting up from her desk and walking over to Marilee.
Austin comes out of his office. "Hey, what's going on?"
"Mr. Wentworth, this lady insists on seeing Miss Wentworth."
"Who are you?" Austin asks.
"Marilee Stone. And you must be Katherine's kid."
"I'm her son, Austin Wentworth. And I'm afraid my mother is busy."
"Too damned bad," Marilee says as she starts to open Katherine's office door.
Austin grabs her hand. "I said my mother is busy, Mrs. Stone."
Marilee looks at the young man angrily. "Junior, take your hand off me and get out of my way. You DON'T wanna get hurt."
Austin releases Marilee's hand and steps aside. Marilee then barges into Katherine's office.
Sitting at her desk, Katherine is on the phone and she is shocked when Marilee barges in. Marilee walks straight over to Katherine's desk, grabs the phone from her and slams it back onto the receiver.
"What the hell are you doing?" Katherine asks. "Are you OUT of your damned mind?"
"No, but you sure must be. I warned you about saying anything about my son to ANYONE."
"And I haven't!" Katherine says, standing to face Marilee. "Now what the hell are you doing in my office?"
"You know DAMNED well why I'm here, lady. You told John Ross Ewing that Cliff is Bradley's father."
Meanwhile, outside in the secretary's office, Austin and the young secretary can hear the womens' voices rising in Katherine's office.
"Mr. Wentworth, should I call security?" The secretary asks.
"Not yet, Amber," Austin replies. He walks over to his mother's door and touches the doorknob, gently opening the door slightly to hear what was being said.
Meanwhile, Katherine and Marilee continue their heated argument inside.
"John Ross Ewing? What makes you think I would tell him of all people?" Katherine shouts.
"Because John Ross knew about it. And he SAID you were the one who told him about Cliff being Bradley's father."
"If John Ross told you that, then he was LYING!"
"And I'm supposed to believe YOU? If you didn't tell him, then just how did he find out?"
"I have no idea, Marilee," Katherine says. "Maybe you're the one who told him. You sure as hell wasted no time telling me."
"The only reason I told you was so you would see your need to end that sick, incestuous relationship you had with my son."
Marilee moves closer to her. "I warned you what would happen if you told anyone about Cliff and my son."
"Oh, don't you DARE threaten me again, you tired old hag! Your problems with that precious son of yours are just that.......YOUR problems. Now if you don't get out of here I'll call security and have you thrown out of this building, head first from the top floor."
"You'd better watch who you're threatenin', Katherine. A threat like that could so easily be perceived as a threat against my life, which could put you in prison finally, where you belong."
"Get out!" Katherine says angrily.
"This isn't over yet," Marilee says. "I swear.......I WILL pay you back for telling John Ross. And if my son ever finds out the truth, Katherine.........I swear..........I'll kill you." Marilee glares angrily at Katherine for a moment, then turns and walks out.
Meanwhile, outside the office, as he hears the conversation come to an end, Austin quickly hurries away from his mother's door and back into his own office. Leaving his door open, he watches as Marilee walks out in an angry huff. Then he sees his mother come out of her own office and approach the secretary.
"Amber, I want you to notify security downstairs. Tell them to make sure that Marilee Stone is never allowed in this building again," she says.
"Yes, Miss Wentworth," says Amber.
Austin closes his office door and smiles happily. "Oh my God," he says. "So.......Brad Stone is dear old Uncle Cliff's son, huh? And Mommy Dearest doesn't want Daddy or Junior to know. Well, now, that hardly seems fair, now, does it? I think Cousin Brad deserves to know whose blood is really flowing through those veins of his." Austin's devious smile grows even wider as he thinks about the power this new information now gives him.
Southfork, Bobby and Ann's room.....that night
"Ray, that's wonderful," Bobby says as Ann walks over and crawls into bed next to him. "I knew she'd be thrilled. And I definitely can't wait til this Saturday. Okay. Yeah, I'll talk to ya tomorrow. Goodnight, brother." Bobby ends the call and puts his phone down. "Well, Ray said that he and Donna just got home from Austin, and Margaret and Matt were both real happy about their re-marriage."
"I'm glad," Ann says. "I'm happy for Ray and Donna. I've enjoyed havin' Donna around these past few months and gettin' to know her. I'm gonna love havin' her for a sister-in-law."
"I talked to Bum today," Bobby says. "And he's gonna get right to work on findin' your brother."
Ann looks at him and smiles. "Thank you, Bobby."
"I saw you lookin' at that picture of your mama tonight."
The smile fades from Ann's face as she looks down.
"Honey, maybe you should think about goin' to see her again."
"No, Bobby. I just can't."
"I'll be glad to go with you. Maybe if I'm with you, things'll go a little bit better."
"No," says Ann. "I just can't face her again. Not after the awful things she said."
"I'm sorry, honey," Bobby says.
"Let's get some sleep. It's been a long day." Ann turns off the light on her side of the bed. Bobby gently touches her shoulder as she lays down, her back to him.
Ewing Oil....the next morning
He stops and walks to the door. "Yes, Mama?"
"Could you come in here a minute, please? And close the door."
John Ross does as he's told. "What's up?"
"Thank you," John Ross says.
"Now, I would very much like to know exactly how you managed to get Marilee Stone to sell those wells to you."
"I already told you. She just saw that it was a good idea and went with it."
"No, John Ross. You see, I don't buy that. I've known Marilee Stone for a very long time, since long before you were born, and even though until recently I hadn't seen her in many years, I don't believe she's changed at all. Which means, that she would never part with those wells that belonged to her father, and especially not to us Ewings. Come on. What do you have on her?"
Sue Ellen smiles. "You're really NOT going to tell me, are you?"
"Uncle Bobby said he didn't wanna know. So, I see no need for you to know either. I got 'em. Itn't that what's important."
"Yes, but I just don't want Marilee to be able to seek some sort of revenge against us for something you've done, John Ross."
"Don't worry, that's NOT gonna happen."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because Marilee and I struck a deal. She had a little.......secret......that she'd rather keep under wraps, and in exchange for my silence, she sold me those wells."
"I see," Sue Ellen says. "Somehow that doesn't make me feel better."
"Like I said, Mama. Don't worry. I've got everything under control."
"Well, there is one other thing I wanted to talk to you about."
"I'm listenin'," John Ross says.
"Yes, I did know that."
"But you never said anything," Sue Ellen says.
"No. How did you find out?" John Ross asks.
"Kimberly told me the other day at the wedding that J.R. had gone to see her shortly after he left the nursing home and moved back into Southfork. He went to see her about Jill. What I don't understand is that, if J.R. knew he had a daughter, why did he keep it from everyone, including you?"
"He had his reasons."
"What reasons, John Ross?" Sue Ellen asks.
John Ross sighs. "Okay. Daddy found out quite a while ago that he had a daughter with Kimberly Cryder. How, I'm not sure. Maybe when Kimberly and Jill returned to Dallas a few years ago, J.R. put two and two together, and hell, maybe he asked Kimberly. Who knows, who cares? The point is, he found out, and he had planned to use both Jill and her mother as a means of returnin' to power."
"I really don't understand. How?"
"Kimberly took over as CEO of Westar in early 2012. Daddy went to see her about her daughter later that year, right after he moved home to Southfork. It was pretty widely known that Kimberly intended to pass the comp'ny on to her daughter, and even make Jill CEO of Westar sometime in the near future. Daddy thought he could use Jill as a means of gettin' in the door at Westar. And after he was excluded from any part of the fam'ly business when Ewing Energies was formed, gainin' control of Westar became especially important to him. He didn't let anyone know what he was up to, not even me, and not even Bum. But before he could follow through with his plan, he found out he had cancer, and then.......well, you know what happened. But in the meantime, Harris Ryland had been diggin' into J.R.'s comin's and goin's, and he found out J.R. shared a daughter with Kimberly Cryder. Ryland was plannin' on usin' that to blackmail J.R. by threatenin' to expose his plan to get control of Westar through Jill, but before he could, J.R. died. Emma found out Harris had this information and she gave it to me, and that's when I asked Bum to find Daddy's daughter."
Sue Ellen shakes her head as she takes a seat at her desk. "Your father certainly was a man of many secrets."
"Yes, he was. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Sue Ellen replies. "Now that I know the truth. John Ross, was that the reason why gaining control of Westar was so important to you?"
Sue Ellen looks at her son, then her eyes move to the framed photo of her and J.R. sitting atop her desk.
Olive Garden Italian Restaurant......later
"This chicken salad is probably the best I've ever had," Lucy says.
"Everything is delicious here," says Krystina. "I fell in love with this place the first time John Ross brought me here."
"Ladies, I want to thank you all for helping me do this short notice wedding planning," Donna says.
"Oh, it's our pleasure," Lucy says. "I'm just happy to see you and Ray back together and happy again."
"Thank you, Lucy."
"Isn't it amazing how everything has changed in the last year or so?" Lucy asks. "But, at the same time, so many things have sort of fallen back into place the way they use to be."
"Okay, Lucy, you totally lost me there," Krystina says.
"Well, just in the last year or so, I moved back home to Southfork, Ray and Donna found each other and fell in love again, and now they're getting remarried. Bobby and Sue Ellen got Ewing Oil back. And we remodeled Southfork."
Donna smiles. "You're absolutely right, Lucy."
"Donna have you given any thought about who's gonna give you away?" Ann asks.
"Oh, dear. No. No, I haven't. I would've asked Bobby, but Ray's already asked him to be his best man."
"Well, I have an idea. Why don't you talk to Ray, and if he's agreeable, then Bobby can give you away, and Ray can ask Conner to be his best man. After all, Conner has become like a son to Ray."
"You know, that is a good idea, Ann," Donna says.
"And I'm sure Bobby would be honored to give the bride away," says Lucy.
At that moment, Brad Stone walks over to their table. "Mrs. Ewing, hello," Brad says, looking at Krystina.
"Well, hello, Mr. Stone," Krystina says.
"Please, call me Brad."
"Brad. Oh, I'm sorry......Brad Stone, this is Ann Ewing, Lucy Ewing, and Donna Dowling."
"Ladies," Brad says.
"Well, you're Marilee Stone's son?" Lucy asks.
"Yes, I am."
"Very nice to meet you," says Ann.
"Brad is a business associate of John Ross's and Ewing Oil," Krystina says.
"Yes, John Ross and I went in on a tract together down in Waco. Well, ladies, it was lovely meeting all of you. Enjoy your lunch. And.,.......Krystina, it was wonderful seeing you again. Hope to see you around."
"I'm sure you will," Krystina says.
Brad smiles at the women, then turns and walks away.
"Well, he is VERY handsome," Lucy says.
"Yes, he certainly is," Donna agrees. "Charming, too."
"What?" Asks a surprised Krystina. "Lucy, that's ridiculous. Mr. Stone knows I'm a married woman."
"Well, unfortunately, that doesn't stop a lot of men," Ann says. "Krystina, if I were you, I'd be careful of young Mr. Stone."
Krystina looks across the room at Brad, who has taken his seat at his table and is talking to the waitress, ordering his lunch. She thinks about what Ann and Lucy said as she watches the handsome Brad, and Krystina can't help but to realize that she finds him quite attractive.
Southfork......that night
"Damn," he says. "Hardly anything feels better'n a nice, warm shower on a cold winter night."
"Yeah," Krystina says, a lack of interest in her tone.
"You shoulda waited to take your shower and joined me in there. I told you it wouldn't take long on those field reports I had to read."
"I just wanted to go ahead and get my shower out of the way," Krystina says. She puts her brush down on the sink and walks out of the bathroom. John Ross watches his wife as she walks out, a concerned look on
"No, I'm fine," Krystina says, faking a smile for her husband.
"Krystina, I think I know you pretty well by now, and sweetheart, I can tell somethin's botherin' you tonight."
Krystina sighs. "John Ross, everything is fine. I dunno, I guess I'm just in one of those moods tonight. Haven't you ever been in a blah kinda mood when you really didn't feel like talking or anything?"
"Yeah, I guess I have," John Ross replies. "I was just worried, is all."
"And I appreciate it. You know, I really don't feel like talking tonight. But, what I do feel like, is making love with my handsome for hours."
John Ross smiles, then drops his towel to the floor. He walks over and puts his arms around Krystina, kissing her. "Well, sweetheart, that can DEFINITELY be arranged."
"John Ross, I meant AFTER you dry off. You're still soaking wet from your shower."
"No matter. Because after the workout we're about to get, we're both gonna be soaked with sweat and in need of another shower anyway." John Ross grabs his wife and pulls her into another passionate kiss.
Ewing Oil......three days later
"Hi, everyone," Lucas says with a smile.
"Well, good morning," Bobby says.
Seeing his brother walk in with Michael, the smile fades from Christopher's face.
"Hello, Michael," Bobby says to his grandson.
"Hello," replies the little boy.
"You remember me, don't you?"
"Yes, I am."
"Michael, Bobby is also MY Dad, which makes him your grandfather," Lucas says.
"You're my Grandpa?"
Bobby looks at the child and smiles. "Yes, son, I am."
"Are you on your way to take Michael to school?" Ann asks.
"No, he is actually out today for a teachers conference or something, so, I brought him here to spend the day with me."
"Well that's great," Bobby says. "Lucas, would the two of you mind some comp'ny?"
"No, of course not."
"Great. John Ross, Christopher, I'm sure that the two of you and Sue Ellen can take care of the office today. I'm gonna take the day off and get to know my grandson."
Lucy and Krystina look across the table at Christopher, who seems bothered, even saddened.
A short time later....
"Yeah, Lucy, what's up?" He asks.
"Listen, I couldn't help but notice the look on your face when Lucas walked in with Michael. And when Bobby said he was gonna spend the day with his grandson. Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, sure, Lucy. Everything's fine."
"You sure about that? Christopher, does it bother you that Lucas is Michael's father? I mean, I know you were very close to that little boy at one time."
Christopher sighs deeply. "Yeah, Lucy, I was."
"Christopher, I understand your desire to have a child of your own. It's obvious from the look on your face, and the pain I see in your eyes sometimes."
"It's really that obvious?" Christopher asks.
"Yes, it is. Christopher, I know how you feel. I do."
"Lucy, I don't think you could possibly know how I feel. You chose not to have a family for the sake of career. I really want a family."
"No, Christopher, I didn't choose not to have children," Lucy says sadly. "Ann and Ray are the only other people in the family who know this, but, I was never able to have children, because of something that happened when I was really young. I've always wanted a child, so, I feel your pain."
"Lucy, my God, I'm sorry. I had no idea."
"It's okay. I've come to terms with it, or at least I think I have. But, you're in a lot better shape than me. You're still young, and, you're able to father children, right?"
"Yeah."
"Then it'll happen for you. Someday, when the time is right. I just wanted you to know that I know how it feels. For years and years I've watched other people with their children, and my heart would break."
"Thank you, Lucy," Christopher says. He hugs his cousin. "I love you."
"Oh, I love you, too," Lucy says, fighting back tears. After a moment, Christopher pulls out of the embrace, then gets into his car. Lucy watches as he drives off.
Southfork.....later
"It's big!" The little boy replies with excitement.
"Yes, it is," Bobby says as he and Lucas smile.
"You really own all this?" Michael asks.
"Yep, we sure do," replies Bobby.
"And maybe when you're out of school on spring break, your mother will let you come and spend a few days here," says Lucas.
"Yeah, would you like that?" Bobby asks.
"I sure would!"
"Good, then we can just do it," Lucas says as one of the hands walks in.
"Mr. Ewing," the young man says. "Got that feed unloaded over in the feed barn."
"Thanks, Patrick. Oh, Patrick, you've never met my grandson, Michael. This is Lucas's son."
Patrick smiles. "Lucas, I didn't know you had a little boy."
"Neither did I until very recently."
"Michael, how would you like to go out with Patrick and sit on the back of the truck for a minute?" Bobby asks.
"Sure."
"Come on, Michael," Patrick says. "I'll let you play with the CB in the truck."
"CB? What's that?" The little boy asks as he walks out of the barn with Patrick.
"He really is a great kid," Bobby says.
"Yes, he is. I told ya."
"I can't believe he's actually my grandson."
"How do you think I feel?" Lucas asks.
"Lucas, I'm glad that we have a minute alone together. I wanted to talk to ya about somethin'."
"Oh? What is it?"
"Well, I was kinda hopin' I could get you to change your mind and come to Ray and Donna's weddin' on Saturday. I know it'd mean an awful lot to Ray for you to be there."
"Jenna is the one who asked Ray for the divorce, not the other way around."
"It doesn't matter. That doesn't change the fact that Ray slept with Donna while he was still married to my mother. Look, I know my Mom is a handful, and she can sometimes get on everyone's last nerve, but she is still my mother. And I can't just forget what Ray and Donna did to her. And I especially can't go and watch them get married."
"Thank you," Lucas says, looking at his father. "I'd better go see what Michael's getting into." Lucas turns and walks out of the barn as Bobby watches, concerned about the bitterness Lucas still feels toward Ray.
The Wentworth mansion.....the next day
"Good afternoon, Mr. Wentworth," Helen says.
"Hi, Helen. Where's my mother?"
"She booked a flight to California this afternoon," Helen replies.
"What? California? She never said a word to me about going to California. What did she go there for?"
"Well, I did hear her on the phone talking to that Richard Channing. She said he was a business associate."
"Yes, sir. Will there be anything else?"
"No. No, thank you, Helen. Look, since my mother is in California, and I'm about to go out, why don't you go ahead and take the rest of the day off?"
"Are you sure?" Helen asks.
"Yes, I'm very sure. Go to a movie or something. Just have fun."
Helen smiles. "Thank you. There actually is a movie I would love to see."
Austin takes his wallet from his back pocket and pulls out some money. "Here, it's on me."
"Oh, Mr. Wentworth thank you, but I couldn't."
"Just consider it a bonus for all the hard work you do around here."
"Thank you. I will."
"Enjoy your afternoon. And lock up when you leave. I have to go out for a while."
"Yes, sir," Helen says as she walks out of the room.
"Richard Channing," Austin says angrily. "My mother would rather rely on a total stranger to help her than her own son. Well I'm not putting up with this anymore. I'm gonna show her and everyone else that I'm not some punk kid who can just be dismissed and ordered around." Austin puts his glass down on the bar, then turns and leaves.
Meanwhile.....the Krebbs Ranch
"Do you, Raymond, take Donna to be your wedded wife?" The minister asks. "To have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse? In sickness and in health? Keeping yourself only unto her til death do you part?"
"I do," Ray says with a smile.
"And do you, Donna, take Raymond, to be your wedded husband? To have and to hold rom this day forward, for better, for worse? In sickness and in health? Keeping yourself only unto her til death do you part?"
"I certainly do," Donna says.
"Then by the power invested in me by God and the state of Texas, in front of God and these witnesses, I do hereby pronounce you husband and wife. Ray, you may kiss the bride."
Smiling ear to ear, the happy couple kisses as the wedding guests clap their hands in joy.
"Ladies and gentlemen," says the minister. "I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Krebbs."
Brad Stone's apartment.....
"May I help you?" the woman asks.
"This is Bradley Stone's apartment, isn't it?"
"Yes it is."
"Is Mr. Stone here?"
"He is. He's on the patio, working out. May I say who's calling?"
"I'll just let him know I'm here. I'm an old friend."
The woman smiles. "Right through those doors," she says.
Austin smiles, then walks over and looks onto the patio, where he sees a shirtless Brad exercising on his balcony patio. Austin opens the sliding glass door and walks out. At first, Brad doesn't see him.
"Training for the Olympics or something?" Austin asks.
Startled, Brad turns to face him.
Smiling Austin walks over. "Nice day for a good workout and to get all hot and sweaty."
"Oh, I just came over to visit. To hang out. After all, we haven't seen each other since that day at my house when you punched me in the mouth."
"Did you come for another one?" Brad asks.
"No, actually, I didn't," Austin says.
"Then you'd better tell me what the hell you're doing in my house, and then get out, or I'll do more than punch you in the mouth."
Austin laughs. "Tough guy, aren't you, Bradley? I mean, just look at you. You're what.......37, 38? Yet you still have the body of a 20-year-old. Hell, I'm only 22, and I'm pretty sure you could kick my ass."
"Yeah, well, you're about to find out how bad I can kick your ass if you don't tell me why you're here, and then leave."
"Oh, Bradley. For all your wealth, and your oil company, and that body I'm sure all the ladies go crazy for, I still feel sorry for you."
"Sorry for me? Now why would you EVER feel sorry for me? After all, you're the one with a psychopath for a mother and a mystery father whose name you don't even know."
Austin smiles. "Funny you should bring up father. Because that's why I'm here. To talk about yours."
"My father?"
"That's right. And I don't mean Seth Stone, either."
"Get out of my house."
"Not even curious what I'm talking about?" Austin asks. "Truth is, Bradster, your mommy has been lying to you your whole life. Seth Stone wasn't your father at all."
Brad looks at the young man angrily. "You crazy little punk, I'm warning you for the last time, get the hell out of my house," he says, walking toward Austin.
"Not until I do you the favor of telling you the truth......COUSIN Brad."
"What? Cousin? You really are out of your mind."
"No I'm not. I overheard your mother and mine talking about it the other day. Your father wasn't Seth Stone. Your real father is my uncle......Cliff Barnes."
Brad's mouth falls open in shock after hearing Austin's shocking revelation. Austin looks at him and smiles with satisfaction, knowing he has just dropped a bombshell that will change Brad's life forever, and possibly destroy his family...
